About This Role

MUST BE UK BASED, IN OR AROUND CARDIFF Working with the FC and the CFO, the scope of the Assistant Accountant is to manage the day-to-day financial processes and generally support finance operations. There will also be the opportunity to contribute to forming better processes and implementing new systems to ensure we stay ahead of the curve as a team. Implementing AI-driven automation is a key goal for the finance team and there are multiple projects to get involved in. This role will also work closely with the People team as we all strive to make people s lives as easy as possible whilst making sure we meet our statutory and legal obligations. Tasks Financial Operations • Purchase Ledger maintenance including raising of purchase orders and co-ordination of invoice approvals, with an eventual move to an AI-driven solution. • Sales Ledger maintenance including customer invoicing and credit control. • Daily bank reconciliations, including multi-currency accounts. • Reviewing expenses on our credit card system and ensuring information is correctly synced to our accounting system. Financial Reporting & Compliance • Calculating and submitting monthly VAT/GST returns. • Production of monthly management accounts alongside the FC for 4 entities in 3 countries. • Assisting with annual statutory audits. Payroll & People Support • Payroll for UK and Singapore. • Ad-hoc projects - both contributing to and owning. • Other ad-hoc finance administration. Requirements • A willingness/curiosity to work with AI-driven finance tools, as a Company we are already using some AI tools, but we are looking to remove as many of our manual processes as possible so we can focus on more exciting things! • Knowledge of accounting terminology, rules and legislation - we don t expect you to know everything but to have a questioning mind and be happy to research things and speak up if you don t know something. • Experience with accounting systems - we use Xero mainly for accounting but are always on the lookout for new bolt ons which will minimise the admin work we need to do. • Administrative skills - as a small team we cover a lot of areas, and all take on our share of the admin. • Organisational and communication skills; staying on top of our tasks and communicating when we are behind (or ahead!) with things is key. • Analytical skills and ability to detect inconsistencies, we take pride in delivering good quality financial information to the Senior Management Team, the board and our investors, and this is achieved by having good self-critical review processes to question things that look out of the ordinary. • Prioritisation skills - as a small team in a dynamic business, priorities can change quickly so it is important we can prioritise the urgent things in line with goals of the team, or that we ask if we are unsure what is the most important thing. • Data entry - there is an element of data entry with the role, although we are always looking for ways to automate and keep this to a minimum. • Experience using Excel - we don t expect super advanced skills, but at the very least a desire to research new ways of using Excel that will make our lives easier. The successful candidate will also have: • A proactive and positive approach, with a willingness to learn and develop. • Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the business • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work. • A collaborative approach and willingness to support colleagues in a small, fast-paced finance team. • Curious mindset and enthusiasm for improving processes, including the use of AI and automation • Be able to work well and thrive in a remote environment. Benefits • Salary: 30,000- 35,000 per annum, depending on experience. • We welcome applications from candidates who are Qualified by Experience (QBE) as well as those studying towards a recognised accounting qualification. • Study support is available for candidates wishing to continue their professional development. • This role is predominantly remote. The Finance team meets in person for the annual UK audit and approximately quarterly, so the successful candidate should be happy to travel for these occasions. • Following successful completion of probation, the successful candidate will be eligible to join the Company's healthcare cashback plan. • We offer 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
