The Opportunity:
CACI is currently looking for an Operations Intern (Process Efficiency and Program Knowledge Consolidation) to join our Defense Personal Property System (DPS) team. In this role, you will capture and consolidate distributed institutional knowledge across programs through structured discovery interviews with subject matter experts.
You'll synthesize qualitative findings into standardized documentation, identify process inefficiencies and knowledge gaps, and work cross-functionally to translate tacit expertise into accessible, centralized resources. This position offers hands-on experience in operational improvement, stakeholder engagement, and leveraging AI tools to accelerate knowledge management while contributing to onboarding materials and program documentation that support organizational effectiveness.
The internship is scheduled to start in May, will last for approximately 12 weeks, and will be conducted entirely remotely.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for conducting structured discovery interviews with subject matter experts across programs to capture distributed institutional knowledge
• Presents ideas for knowledge organization and process improvement
• Synthesizes interview findings into clear, standardized documentation in a centralized repository
• Identifies knowledge gaps, inconsistencies, and process inefficiencies across teams
• Works closely with functional leads, engineering, and business analysts to understand operational context and translate tacit knowledge into accessible systems
• Adheres to program documentation standards and configuration practices
• Provides input into onboarding materials and reference guides
• Maintains knowledge of program structure, tools, processes, and acronyms across functions
• Coordinates with engineering to ensure documentation integrates with operational tooling
• Tracks interview coverage, gaps, and progress against consolidation milestones
• Collects and documents usage metrics for operational tooling to quantify program impact
• Leverages AI tools to accelerate research, synthesis, and documentation drafting; validates how consolidated knowledge integrates with AI assistants and surfaces gaps where outputs need refinements
Qualifications:
Required:
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program with at least one year of coursework completed
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
• Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearance
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex conversations into clear, structured documentation
• Ability to synthesize qualitative information from multiple sources into structured written output
• Strong organizational and task management skills with attention to detail
• Self-motivated with the ability to work across teams and manage relationships with senior staff and subject matter experts
• Confidence conducting structured interviews and stakeholder conversations in a professional setting
• Hands-on experience with AI tools for research, writing, or analysis; familiarity with prompt engineering and the ability to evaluate AI output quality
Desired:
• Prior experience in leading teams, research, consulting, sales, or other roles requiring stakeholder engagement and discovery
• Coursework or interest in defense, military operations, government policy, international relations, or national security
• Background in political science, public policy, global affairs, business, or related fields
• Experience with documentation platforms (Confluence, SharePoint, Notion, etc.)
• Familiarity with Agile or SAFe practices
• Prior internship, contract, or other experience demonstrating professional maturity
• Interest in defense operations, program management, or national security careers
