Post Graduate Supervisor: Animation and Motion Design

This is a remote position. The SAE Distance (Online) Campus is seeking a Postgraduate Supervisor specializing in Animation and Digital Arts to join our academic team. This role supports students enrolled in the postgraduate program by guiding them in developing independent research in animation and digital arts. The supervisor will provide structured academic guidance throughout the postgraduate research dissertation journey. This role requires an experienced academic practitioner and subject matter expert with a strong background in animation and/or digital arts, with experience in supervising and supporting students in their research Qualities: • Passionate about creative media education and innovation • Positive, patient, and supportive in student engagement • Organized, efficient, and meticulous in task execution • Skilled communicator with strong interpersonal skills • Self-motivated and adaptable to a digital learning environment Provide regular one-on-one or small group supervision sessions to guide students through their postgraduate projects to final submission. Provide constructive, timely, and detailed written feedback on proposals, progress submissions, and final project work • Assess and grade postgraduate submissions in line with institutional policy timelines and marking criteria, ensuring academic integrity is upheld throughout • Monitor student progress and proactively identify students who may require additional academic support or intervention Participate in postgraduate coordinator and program meetings when required, and contribute constructive feedback to improve supervision practices and program offerings Maintain accurate administrative records relating to supervision activity, student progress, and assessment in line with institutional requirements Requirements • A PhD (NQF Level 10) or Masters (NQF Level 9) in Animation, Digital Arts in Creative Media, is essential • A minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience within animation, motion design, digital arts, or a related creative media field • A minimum of 2 years postgraduate supervision, lecturing, or teaching experience within higher education • Demonstrated experience supervising or mentoring independent creative or research projects at honours or postgraduate level • Online facilitation or supervision experience beneficial • Proficient in navigating a Learning Management System and MS Office suite • Relevant curriculum, assessment, and postgraduate research knowledge • Excellent administrative andorganizational abilities Originally posted on Himalayas
