Senior NDT Inspector (Level II/III)

Role Title: Senior NDT Inspector (Level II/III) Role Type: Contractor Location: Remote (US-based preferred) micro1 is engaging Senior NDT Inspectors (Level II/III) to contribute expert insights to a client's critical engineering project. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required - your domain knowledge is what matters. This engagement is ideal for professionals passionate about elevating standards in non-destructive testing and advancing the field through remote project-based contributions. Scope of Work • Analyze and interpret radiographic images (RT), ultrasonic scans (UT/PAUT), and magnetic particle (MT) or penetrant (PT) test indications. • Review authentic inspection data and provide meticulous written and verbal evaluations, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME Section V, API 510/653). • Apply advanced knowledge of weld defect acceptance criteria to make disposition recommendations on flaws and indications found in welds and components. • Evaluate thermographic imagery or remote visual inspection (RVI) footage as needed, contributing expert judgement to diverse inspection scenarios. • Produce clear, concise, and technically accurate reports that document findings, rationale, and recommended actions. • Collaborate asynchronously with technical peers to resolve complex or ambiguous indications, enhancing overall project accuracy and reliability. • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project protocols based on industry best practices and evolving compliance criteria. Preferred Qualifications • Active ASNT or ISO 9712 NDT Level II/III certification in relevant methods (RT, UT/PAUT, MT, PT). • Minimum of 8 years directly interpreting radiographs, ultrasonic/PAUT scans, MT/PT indications, and related NDT data in oil & gas, petrochemical, or power sectors. • Thorough working knowledge of US and international codes and standards (ASME Section V, VIII, XI; API 510/570/653; API 1104; AWS D1.1). • Expertise in making nuanced accept/reject determinations according to code-based acceptance criteria. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, especially in authoring detailed technical documentation and delivering feedback to technical and non-technical audiences. • Demonstrated ability to conduct objective, quality-focused work independently in a remote setting. • Experience evaluating thermography or RVI data is a plus.
