Encova Insurance is looking for a Senior Property Large Loss Specialist to join our growing Property Claims team. This is a home-based role offering flexibility, with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by managing complex, high-exposure property claims. You must reside in Ohio to support required travel needs and stay closely connected to the regions we serve. JOB OBJECTIVE: The Senior Property Large Loss Specialist independently investigates, evaluates, estimates and processes complex property claims in excess of $250,000+ across the claims organizations operating area. This role handles high-exposure or complex losses, ensuring quality customer service and accurate claims processes. This role mentors entry-level large loss specialists. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Independently handle primarily large ($250,000+) personal and commercial property losses including structure, contents, ALE, scheduled property and business income losses; losses requiring on-site inspection; property coverage questions and limited handled property lawsuits including attending pre-trials, mediations, arbitrations, or trials when required. • Inspect and write large property estimates, including total losses, on both residential and commercial structures using estimating guides and estimating software. • Assist in risk evaluation on homeowners and commercial businesses including verifying insurance to value, coinsurance penalties and documenting any change or increased hazard to the risk. • Comply with Encova s claims organization policies and procedures for contact and communication, verification of coverages, determination of liability, investigation of losses, determination of claims values, completion of forms and reports, and negotiation and settlement of claims. • Participate in catastrophe claims handling throughout the entire footprint, requiring overnight travel or extended stays upon request. • Mentor, develop and provide guidance to entry-level large loss specialists. OTHER FUNCTIONS: • Regular travel to loss locations, often with little notice, is required for this position. • Visit and communicate with agents affected by the catastrophic loss or event and keep agents appraised of the loss developments and reserving activity. • Attend seminars, conferences or workshops to continue education. • Perform other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience in insurance, construction, risk management, or related field is strongly preferred. • This position requires 7 years of property claims handling experience including large and/or complex claims. • Must have demonstrated excellent claims negotiation, communication and investigation skills. • Excellent time management and organizational skills. • Proven understanding of complex policy language and ability to apply investigative techniques. • Must meet established guidelines for quality and productivity. • Ability to work independently, recognize and resolve problems and make decisions. • Continuing education is strongly preferred and may be obtained in part or in full through: Industry seminars or workshops; Vale National Estimating Academy; IIA - Associate in Claim designation; and/or CPCU. • Must either be licensed or willing and able to obtain license in all operating states....
