Collaborate closely with senior engineers and project managers as you take ownership of design, documentation, and construction support from concept to completion. This role offers hands-on growth in HVAC systems, Revit/AutoCAD work, and client interaction-all in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.

Job Summary
The position in DLB s Mission Critical Department focuses primarily on hyperscale data centers and related mission critical facilities. The Mechanical Engineer II will have the opportunity to work with and collaborate with senior design staff to advance their mechanical design skills. They will learn, through hands-on application, how to design a wide variety of projects. This person will work as part of the Engineering Team and interact closely with the Project Management Team to produce construction documents, develop and edit project specifications and assist in the construction administration process.
The Mechanical Engineer II will receive general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. May work independently consistently exercising discretion and independent judgment on individual work, or under immediate supervision. May serve as trade lead on routine projects of limited scope.
The Mechanical Engineer II will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.
Essential Functions
Assist in Production of Mechanical Engineering Documents (50%)
• Perform intermediate to advanced engineering work as directed
• Perform intermediate to advanced mechanical design tasks under a senior engineer s supervision
• Perform intermediate to advanced computations and analysis for mechanical systems
• Utilize AutoCAD and Revit software to prepare drawings and visual aids
• Review and write basic HVAC controls sequences of operations
Assist in Pre-Construction Activities (15%)
• Survey existing building conditions and prepare technical reports of findings
• Collect data and other information for construction documents
• Prepare project design and construction documents
• Basic editing and writing of project specifications
Assist in Construction Activities (25%)
• Work as part of the engineering team and interact closely with the project management team
• Review shop drawings and submittals
• Review and respond to RFIs
• Review and complete punch lists and project close out documents
Reporting (10%)
• Prepare project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
• Update and maintain shop drawing and RFI log
• Manage personal hours using company tools

Position Requirements
• Knowledge of designing mechanical systems
• Knowledge of codes, code analysis and specifications for mechanical systems
• Knowledge of DDC controls and monitoring for HVAC systems
• Knowledge of electrical systems related to HVAC systems
• Knowledge of fire alarm / protection system devices
• Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management
• Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
• Intermediate skill conducting load and ventilation calculations
• Ability to work successfully in a remote environment thru effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction free workspace
• Ability to select most HVAC equipment types
• Ability to follow and create hydronic flow diagrams
