Otis is seeking a strategic and results driven Regional Category Manager to lead sourcing activities for elevator doors and mechanical fabricated components across the NAA region. The scope includes door panels, door operators, headers, sills, rollers, tracks, and associated metal assemblies.
The successful candidate will deploy the global category strategy in full alignment with the Global Category team and the NAA Supply Chain Business Partner. The role includes responsibility for strategic sourcing, supplier selection, contract management, supplier performance improvement (including the Supplier Premier program), and cost optimization initiatives. The Regional Category Manager will drive productivity, quality, lead time, and supply assurance goals while actively managing supplier risk. On a typical day you will be responsible for:
Category Strategy & Execution
•
Develop and implement the regional sourcing strategy for elevator doors and fabricated mechanical components, aligned with the global category direction.
•
Provide regional leadership for strategic sourcing initiatives to maximize business value and competitiveness.
•
Achieve annual productivity targets by optimizing the supply base, fostering competitive tension, and leveraging cost driver transparency (materials, fabrication processes, labor, tooling).
Operational Support to Sites
•
Provide operational support to manufacturing and field sites across NAA for all door and fabricated component needs.
•
Monitor and improve supplier On Time Delivery (OTD), driving corrective actions to ensure material availability.
•
Manage price updates, ensuring accuracy and compliance across procurement systems.
•
Enforce adherence to Otis procurement policies and processes (PO compliance, approved supplier usage, sourcing governance).
•
Support the resolution of day to day supplier issues including delivery delays, quality deviations, technical misalignments, logistics challenges, and capacity constraints.
•
Act as escalation point between local site buyers and strategic suppliers to resolve operational bottlenecks quickly.
Cost, Performance & Supply Base Management
•
Lead cost reduction, standardization, and efficiency improvement initiatives across door components and assemblies.
•
Negotiate supplier contracts, pricing, and commercial terms using data driven approaches and should cost modeling.
•
Manage the regional supply base and drive continuous improvement in cost, quality, delivery, and innovation.
•
Ensure Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) governance across product lifecycles.
•
Develop and implement supplier risk mitigation strategies in compliance with Otis policy.
Cross Functional Leadership & Collaboration
•
Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Quality to align technical specifications and support product industrialization.
•
Support New Product Introduction (NPI), product redesigns, and value engineering initiatives.
•
Work closely with Quality and Operations to address systemic supplier issues and enhance process capabilities.
What you will need to be successful:
•
Bachelor's degree in engineering or purchasing; Master's preferred
•
8+ years in procurement, category management, and team leadership
•
Prefer experience in global, matrixed, industrial organizations
•
Strong negotiation and contract management skills
•
Proficient in Excel, procurement systems (JD Edwards, SAP, EDI), and cost modeling
•
Ability to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels
•
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; multicultural experience
•
Able to travel up to 20% within the NAA region
